# EngageIQ

## Using the EngageIQ Event with Klaviyo

### Overview

The **EngageIQ** event automatically captures and sends detailed user engagement data to Klaviyo, provided that the **AI Events** setting is enabled in your app's Klaviyo integration settings.

#### What EngageIQ Does

EngageIQ analyzes granular customer behavior, including:

* **Granular intra‑session analysis** – click type, click frequency, dwell time, product interactions, etc.
* **Cross‑session context** – recency, frequency, cumulative time on site, etc.
* **User‑specific threshold** – every shopper has their own dynamic score; we only fire when the probability of conversion lift is sufficiently high.

We use a custom machine learning model trained on your store’s data to evaluate each session in the context of previous visits. When a visitor’s behavior — across multiple sessions — signals strong interest or high buying intent, we trigger an EngageIQ event. This indicates the customer is likely to convert soon and would benefit from a timely marketing touchpoint, like an email follow-up.

### Benefits

* **Improved targeting**: Precisely identify highly engaged customers.
* **Enhanced conversion rates** by timely and relevant follow-ups based on engagement levels.
* **Create a new dynamic segment** in Klaviyo to include in future campaigns
* **Create new remarketing and lookalike audiences** by pushing this segment to Facebook.

### Enabling EngageIQ Event in Klaviyo

EngageIQ events are automatically sent to Klaviyo if you have enabled the **"AI Events"** option in your app's Klaviyo integration settings.

#### Steps to Create a Klaviyo Flow with EngageIQ

1. **Log in to your Klaviyo account.**
2. Navigate to **Flows** and click **"Create Flow."**
3. **Set the Trigger**:
   * Choose **Metric** as the trigger type.
   * Select `EngageIQ` from the event list as the trigger.
4. **Add Flow Filters (Optional)** While there's no single correct combination of flow filters, you may consider the following guidelines:
   * Exclude users who have recently made a purchase.
   * Filter for users who have entered the flow "x" amount of days ago. For a conservative approach, just set filter to "Has not been in flow at any time."
   * Target users based on the recency of their latest session.
   * See Image 1 for examples.
5. **Insert a Time Block** Add a time delay after the event trigger to prevent the user from entering multiple flows simultaneously. It's a good idea to use a time-delay that is greater than what you're using for other flows like Browse Abandonment or Abandoned Cart so that these flows remain the priority.
6. **Set up a Conditional Split (Optional)** Set-up a conditional split so that new customers are entered into a different path than returning customers. See Image 2 below for an example.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please note that subscribers can have the "EngageIQ" event fire for each new session within a relatively short amount of time. It's important you use a filter to ensure subscribers are not entered into the flow multiple times within a short time period.
{% endhint %}

### Creating a Dynamic Segment for EngageIQ

Creating a dynamic segment of users who triggered the EngageIQ event allows you to leverage this data for targeted email campaigns.

1. **Navigate to the "Lists & Segments" section in Klaviyo.**
2. Click **"Create List/Segment"** and select **Segment**.
3. Define the segment conditions:
   * Select "What someone has done (or not done)."
   * Choose `EngageIQ` event.
   * Set the timeframe (e.g., "in the last 90 days").

This segment can now be used for targeted email campaigns, helping you reach highly engaged customers more effectively and pushed to Facebook as a remarketing audience and to build lookalike audiences from.

#### Benefits of Using EngageIQ

* Provides deeper visibility into customer behavior.
* Enables targeted communication based on precise engagement data.
* Enhances marketing effectiveness by identifying highly-engaged users.

By effectively utilizing the EngageIQ event, you can significantly improve your customer targeting, improve the performance of your campaigns, supply your Facebook marketing with new audiences, and increase overall conversion rates.
